House Bill 5784 makes many changes

Illinois lawmakers are considering a sweeping rewrite of state cannabis regulations aimed at easing financial pressure on dispensaries and preparing for possible changes in federal marijuana policy.

It was discussed on Tuesday during the hearing on the topic in the executive committee of the House of Representatives, House bill 5784 would eliminate the requirement that dispensaries hire security contractors, expand cannabis possession limits and create pathways for hemp businesses to enter Illinois’ regulated cannabis market.

The proposal would also make changes related to access to medical cannabis, licensing, testing requirements, taxes, pickup and social capital programs.
