Baklava Weed Strain Information and Review

Published

on

The Baklava cannabis strain may get its name from its unique flavor reminiscent of the deliciously sweet Turkish pastry. Or it could be paying homage to the joint-loving Mr. Baklava himself, Action Bronson. Either way, this indica-dominant hybrid has made many reconsider their stance on indicas, given its surprisingly energizing effects. The Baklava strain’s THC level fluctuates around 25%, making it a bold choice for beginners and a sublime pick for the pros.

Originally bred in 2019, Baklava is a relatively new kid on the block, and there’s still much to learn about it. The ILGM research team does its best to keep all information relevant and up-to-date. However, some finer details may be more challenging to uncover.

Feel free to discuss your experience with the Baklava weed strain in the comments section below.

Baklava strain genetics

With multiple versions available, the Baklava strain genetics (and price) will depend on your source.

Alien Labs and The Plug Seedbank each use a Gelato phenotype in their version, with Alien Labs opting for the highly favored Gelato 41 – one of the strongest in the Gelato family. Gelato is an indica-dominant cross of Thin Mint GSC and Sunset Sherbert, averaging 22% THC. Gelato 41 is more sativa-leaning and known for its powerful, heady highs and super sweet, dank flavor.

Alien Labs crosses Gelato 41 with Kosher Kush, an award-winning cultivar by DNA Genetics. This easy-to-grow indica is best known for its potent and fast-acting therapeutic effects. Sources say it likely ties back to OG Kush, but its origins remain a mystery.

The Plug Seedbank crosses Gelato with the relaxing, laid-back Wedding Cake, an indica-heavy treat averaging a mid-twenty THC. It originates from a blend of Cherry Pie and GSC and is notorious for its sweet, vanilla flavors.

Is Baklava strain indica or sativa?

Gauging by its energizing effects, you’d think the Baklava strain is sativa, not indica. But it’s actually an indica-dominant hybrid, although only mildly so. Its 60:40 indica-to-sativa ratio delivers an invigorating high that slowly winds down to a relaxing buzz.

Growing Baklava strain

Alien Labs is highly secretive about its strains and growing processes, and it’s unlikely you’ll find seeds or clones in this variant. The Plug Seedbank cultivar is more readily available, and you should be able to source seeds and clones with relative ease. It’s also safe to assume that most Baklava strain info growers share is on this version.

Growers say it can be relatively difficult to grow the Baklava weed strain, requiring moderate cultivation experience. You can grow it indoors and outdoors. It has an average height of 6.6ft outdoors and produces bright green nuggets with a smothering of furry hairs and sticky trichomes. It displays a beautiful color pallet with subtle purple hues, vibrant greens, and hints of yellow here and there.

Baklava strain flowering time

Sources say Baklava has fast-flowering plants, allowing you to harvest in mid-October outdoors. Indoors, you can expect a 7-9 week flowering time. You can bring out the purple tones in your plants by exposing them to cooler night temperatures right before flowering starts.

Growing outdoors is the way to go for many growers. Here’s our Outdoor marijuana grow calendar for a comprehensive look at the optimal times to harvest.

Baklava strain autoflowering time

The autoflowering version of Baklava, like most autoflowers, starts blooming very early. Because it doesn’t require light deprivation to start flowering, expect the first buds to appear after four to six weeks. Baklava autoflowers can be harvested after ten to fourteen weeks. That makes its (auto)flowering time between four and ten weeks long.

Baklava strain yield

The average yield of any cannabis plant depends on several factors, including the skill of the cultivator, growing conditions, strain genetics, and size and health of the plant. It also differs between photoperiod and autoflower plants. However, you can use general estimates as a potential yield per plant.

For photoperiod plants, this is 16-64 ounces (450-1814 grams) outdoors and 8-24 ounces (227-680 grams) indoors.

Baklava strain autoflower yield

The potential yield per plant for autoflowering plants is 1.7-7 ounces (50-200 grams) outdoors and 1.7-4.2 ounces (50-120 grams) indoors.

Check out our comprehensive list of the best 8 high yield strains (indoors and outdoors) to maximize your grow!

Baklava strain effects

Baklava starts with a rush of mental energy and euphoria, unlike anything you’d expect of an indica-dominant strain. However, the sudden rush of gusto and sociability can be short-lived. Your high eventually settles into a calm and relaxing state, coaxing you into a comfy spot to chill. Its balanced effects make it great for unwinding as it eases you into the evening, replacing the day’s stress with elation and contentment.

Baklava strain’s THC level ranges around 22-25% and could leave novice smokers floored (or at least quite couch-locked). Its cannabinoid count isn’t the highest (CBD: 0.43-0.6%, CBC: 0.18-0.3%, CBG: 0.32-0.37%), but it’s a useful aid for relieving insomnia, appetite problems, stress, and anxiety. Its side effects are what you’ve probably come to expect from weed, with the main contenders being drops in blood pressure, tinglyness, and drowsiness. You can also expect the munchies to strike, couchlock to grab you, and dry, red eyes that’ll make a priest think you’re possessed. Stay hydrated, keep some snacks at hand, and you should be alright.

Baklava is one of many must-try hybrids from the Gelato family. Another excellent cultivar is Lemon Cherry Gelato, an award-winner that’s sure to have you sinking into your comfy chair with a smile on your face.

Baklava strain terpenes

The consensus of Baklava strain review comments praises the strain’s diverse flavor and aromatic profile.

Its initial aroma of fresh, sweet berries with hints of sour citrus is soon overwhelmed by pungent fuel and herbs. Similarly, its flavor contrasts from inhale to exhale, starting with sweetness and evolving into a mix of cream, spice, and diesel

Caryophyllene and myrcene are on the top of the Baklava strain terpene list, contributing to the spicy and fruity flavors and anti-inflammatory and sedative effects. Linalool is also present, lending its sweet, floral elements, and limonene, an effective immunostimulant, delivers bold citrus notes.

Considering the cultivars and terpenes that make up the Baklava strain genetics, it’s a no-brainer that this hybrid is all the rage at the dessert table.

Learn more about the Baklava strain

Despite being a newcomer on the green scene, Baklava has already developed a notable fan base, proving once again that Alien Labs is still the cannabis king on the California coast. Melonade, Zookies, and Sherbacio are more examples of this breeder’s handy work if you want to “collect-em-all.” For more wicked strains like these, check out the ILGM seed bank or sign up and get all the latest cannabis seed deals.

Pure Indica Marijuana Strain Information and Review

Published

on

By

With all the loopy and “out there” names given to cannabis strains over the years, it’s refreshing to find one that lives up to its name. With the Pure Indica strain, what you see is what you get. As one would guess by the name, this strain is 100% indica made by cross-breeding pure Afghan landrace strains.

This article will discuss this strain’s origins and overall effect and discover why marijuana lovers of all types are adding the Pure Indica cannabis strain to their strain rotations. As always, the ILGM research team does its utmost to keep all information up to date and accurate, but as you can imagine, some details may be hard to come by.

Pure Indica strain genetics

With the secretive tendencies of growers and such little available knowledge on its background, it’s hard to say what the Pure Indica strain genetics are. Some believe it to be a backcross of Afghanistan Indica, making it a direct descendant of Afghani land strains such as the Hindu Kush strain. More recent versions are more likely to be an OG Kush backcross.

In an attempt to trace its origins, the original breeder of the Pure Indica weed strain could not be found. However, we assume that this strain was bred decades ago. However, there seems to be a resurgence of this strain, with cultivators releasing their own versions of it into the market. And so, the ILGM research team will continue to track down the birthplace of the Pure Indica strain, but for now, let’s just enjoy it.

Is Pure Indica strain indica or sativa?

By now, I’m sure there’s no doubt about the Pure Indica strains indica or sativa balance since its name is a dead giveaway. The Pure Indica strain is indica to the max! Growing Pure Indica Strain

The growing tendencies of the Pure Indica marijuana strain are typical of that of Afghani strains. The bushes are small but stocky in stature, requiring low maintenance with a natural resilience to pests, disease, and mold. This makes them a great choice for beginner growers. If you need extra tips and tricks, download our free ILGM Grow Bible.

Being genetically equipped to deal with harsh, arid regions, the Pure Indica strain can thrive outside, easily reaching over 5ft tall. Choosing fruit over foliage, the plants form a central cola with multiple smaller branches, allowing more airflow and less chance of bud rot. The Pure Indica weed strain can also be grown indoors, with a height that averages 30 to 40 inches tall.

The buds are olive green with strong orange undertones. Coated in a mouthwateringly frosty layer of trichome crystals and bright amber pistils, the fruit of this plant looks just as delectable as it tastes.

Pure Indica strain flowering time

Many growers lean more towards indica since it has relatively high yields and shorter flowering times than its sativa counterpart. Staying true to its genetics, the Pure Indica strain is said to have a short flowering period of around 49-56 days, while outdoor cultivators can expect to harvest around the end of September.

Pure Indica strain autoflowering time

The autoflowering version of the Pure Indica strain, like most autoflowers, starts blooming very early. Because it doesn’t require light deprivation to initiate the flowering process, expect the first buds to appear after four to six weeks. Pure Indica strain autoflowers can be harvested after ten to fourteen weeks. That makes its (auto)flowering time between four and ten weeks long.

The most common terpenes found in indica strains are Myrcene and Caryophyllene. Both of these contribute to the flavor and aroma of the Pure Indica strain.  Mycene gives the plant musky, earthy tones, while Caryophllene lends to the spicier notes. Linalool is also commonly found in indica strains, bringing floral and lavender elements to the flavor profile.

Growing LA Kush Cake strain

LA Kush Cake strain seeds are available for purchase online. The marijuana plant grows to around 30-60 inches indoors and up to 80 inches outdoors. It has bushy foliage with broad leaves in shades of deep green with subtle purple hues. The purple tint carries through to the sugar leaves and dense green nuggets littered with light amber hairs. The frosting on this cake is the ridiculous amount of trichome crystals coating every crevice of the buds, giving it a snowy appearance.

LA Kush Cake strain info suggests it prefers to grow outdoors in a dry, temperate climate with plenty of light and sufficient airflow. Growers say the trichome-drenched buds can easily fall prey to bud rot, so you’ll need to pay attention to your humidity levels – especially if you’re growing indoors.  Sources say it’s relatively easy to cultivate. If you know the basics of growing cannabis, you should do just fine. And if you don’t, you’ve come to the right place for guidance.

LA Kush Cake strain flowering time

A baker has to wait for the cake to be done, and cannabis cultivators can relate – especially when growing LA Kush Cake. For all its exceptional qualities, its flowering time is average, leaving you waiting around 8-9 weeks, with harvest around mid-October. On the upside, growers say it emits a diesel aroma that becomes more pungent as it flowers, indicating when it’s ripe for the picking.

LA Kush Cake strain autoflowering time

Because it isn’t dependent on light deprivation to start flowering, growers can expect the first buds to appear after four to six weeks. When the conditions are right, growers say LA Kush Cake can be a very generous yielder. And when it comes to trichomes, not many strains can face off with this resinous beauty. Its sticky buds have put it on the radars of extractors and concentrate producers everywhere wanting to get a slice of cake on their dab rigs.

LA Kush Cake strain autoflower yield

The potential yield per plant for autoflowering plants is 1.7-7 ounces (50-200 grams) outdoors and 1.7-4.2 ounces (50-120 grams) indoors.

Many consumers say it helps boost creativity and alleviate discomfort associated with chronic pain, stress, and anxiety.

LA Kush Cake brings physical calmness and stills the mind while maintaining focus – but these welcomed effects come at a cost. A small cost, but a cost nonetheless. Mostly drowsiness, dry eyes, and thirst, but if you’re a beginner smoker, you could experience mild paranoia. So pace yourself.

How strong is LA Kush Cake strain?

Look, we all enjoy getting high, but not every strain needs to shoot you to the moon. Sometimes you just want to get stratosphere-high but stay close enough to the ground to function. LA Kush Cake strain terpenes

Beta-caryophyllene, limonene, humulene, and myrcene (with a touch of borneol) give LA Kush Cake its intense aroma, delectable flavor, and various therapeutic benefits. Myrcene provides an earthy aroma and is an effective sedative and muscle relaxant. Caryophyllene, a natural anti-inflammatory, adds spicy, peppery notes, while humulene provides herbal tones. Limonene adds the citrus element and anti-anxiety properties, and borneol completes the flavor of LA Kush Cake with a floral touch.

Aroma & Flavor
