Banana Kush Cake Automatic is an exciting plant to grow, and gardeners of all levels can find success with this feminized, automatic variety. The yields are high, and the flowers display colourful hues throughout flowering. The effects are stimulating and soothing, while the terpene profile combines sweetness with spice.

Banana Kush Cake automatic (also available in feminized seeds) is an impressive combination of exciting new genetics. This strain is 75% indica and 25% sativa, with inherited traits from Wedding Cheesecake, Banana Kush, and Hindu Kush Automatic.

For outdoor gardeners, Banana Kush Cake does just as well in cold climates as it does indoors, and there is no doubt that gardeners looking for the next hot new cultivar will enjoy the slight variations of phenotypes.

Our indoor grow area has been optimized for cultivating cannabis, and we were excited to begin our grow cycle, because each day brought us closer to being able to sample our flowers. For lighting, we used multiple 1000w Green Power Phillips HPS lights, which were mounted to the ceiling in a fixed position, well above the fragile new seedlings.

Moving air and exchanging air are important aspects of the growing process. Our airflow system included multiple small fans, which gently moved the air around the inside of the growing area, and various inline fans were also positioned around the cultivation area. These fans help remove the odorous air from the room by sucking it through a carbon filter to remove any unwanted smells.

Environmental controls are just as important as moving the air. During the course of our Banana Kush Cake automatic grow, we kept strict parameters on both temperature and humidity. Throughout the cultivation process, we adjusted the humidity at different stages.

Commonly, a higher humidity level is kept during the seedling and vegetative period, with relative humidity dropping during flowering to be proactive against mould potential. The room temperature was kept at 23°C  with the lights on and 21°C  with the light off.

Our Banana Kush Cake automatic seed was germinated between two moist paper towels covered by two ceramic plates. For the duration of the entire cycle, we set our lighting schedule to 18 hours on / 6 hours off. Once we saw the white taproot sticking out approximately 3 mm from the cracked seed, it was moved into a 1-litre pot filled with BAC Lava Mix soil.

Our seeds were placed approximately 5 mm under the soil, with the tap root pointing down. Within 24 hours, we saw the Banana Kush Cake automatic break the soil’s surface. Because seedlings thrive in higher humidity compared to other parts of the grow, we started with RH set to 65%.

We wasted no time on getting our Banana Kush Cake automatic off to a good start and started week one by top-feeding our seedling 100 ml of pure water around the base of the stem by hand. Our plant was only 3 cm tall but was still large enough to attract insects. We did not see any problems, but we proactively released the predator insect, Hypoaspis Miles. This beneficial insect feeds on fungus gnats and thrip pupae.

Purple Skunk Automatic Grow Report (Indoor)

Purple Skunk Automatic has an incredible lineage. It is the result of crossing Skunk #1 with Shiva Skunk and Hindu Kush automatic. Each influence has something unique to offer, and growers will see these desired traits quickly. Heavy yielding, strong branches, compact shape, thick trichome coverage, and hues of purple leave many cultivators in admiration.

Flowering stage: 56 days

Total time, seed to harvest: 85 days

Final yield: 136 grams

THC content: 18.3%

The grow space had been optimised for our Purple Skunk Automatic before planting our seeds. A 1000w Green Power Phillips HPS fixed at 300 cm above the soil surface provided light for the plants, which was a fantastic light to use for both the vegetative and flowering stages. The chosen medium was BAC Lava Soil Mix, which was used throughout the entirety of this growth cycle.

When creating this indoor grow space, we used multiple fans to gently move the air above the canopy and throughout the lower foliage. This design reduced the potential for stale, moist air to collect and stagnate. We also used an inline fan which pulled air out of the grow area into a carbon scrubber, which reduced the odour created by our Purple Skunk Automatic.

Lighting and airflow are essential elements, but none would matter without the right environment. We kept tight controls on conditions during the grow. Temperatures during the lights-on period remained at 23 °C. During the lights off period, the temperature dipped to 21 °C. Humidity was the other factor to strictly control. We began our Purple Skunk Automatic with 65% humidity, but we adjusted the RH downward as we got to the later weeks of flowering.

We started by placing our Purple Skunk Automatic seed into a pre-moistened jiffy cube. Within a few days, we saw the seedling emerging from the top of the hole. Throughout week one, we let our Purple Skunk Automatic grow in the jiffy cube for a few days under 18 hours on, 6 hours off light schedule before we transplanted our Purple Skunk Automatic into a 5-litre container. Up-potting will allow the roots to stretch and build their network under the soil.

After placing the Purple Skunk Automatic seedling into the soil, we gave it 100 ml of pure water around the base of the stem. Throughout the grow, whether we used pure water or a nutrient solution, we always pH’d the contents to 6.2 before applying it to the soil.

Our IPM program relies on the use of beneficial insects to hunt and eliminate any harmful insects that could be damaging to our garden. We start this early to ensure our chances for success. As we placed our plant in the soil, we also released Hypoaspis Miles, an insect that likes to devour fungus gnats and thrip pupae.

To start week two, we did some gentle plant training to build strong branches, which will later support the weight of the buds. The first thing we did was to make sure the Purple Skunk Automatic had a steady breeze moving the leaves and branches. The airflow wasn’t too heavy; growers should avoid heavy, sustained winds on cannabis plants. We were still feeding pure water in 100 ml increments when needed.

Secondly, we turned the plant 1/2 turn each night before the lights went off. Like sunflowers, cannabis will lean towards the light source. Giving them a turn each evening will force the branches to build cell walls and realign.

Our Purple Skunk Automatic had grown to 12 cm tall by week three. We felt the root system was established enough to start using the Bio Grow nutrients. We added them to our water to get a final EC of 1.6 and then pH’d the solution to our target of 6.2. The watering volume remained the same, at 100 ml around the base of the stem.

We added two new beneficial insects into the garden. Amblyseius Cucumeris is a beneficial insect that will destroy thrip larvae on sight. Additionally, Amblyseius Californicus was added to eliminate any hiding populations of two-spotted spider mites. Both of these insects come in small sachets, which we placed on the soil in each container of Purple Skunk Automatic.

Sensi Amnesia Automatic Grow Report (Indoor)

Sensi Amnesia Automatic is an easy-to-grow and rewarding strain. Yields are excellent, finishing times are quick, and the refreshing tropical profile puts a smile on gardeners’ faces. The effects are uplifting and euphoric, which aligns with its sativa dominant lineage. Plants grow to an average height, and no special training techniques are required.

Sensi Amnesia Automatic is an exclusive cultivar found only through Sensi Seeds. It is popular not only because of its genetic lineage, but the flavour profile and effects make this a standout strain. Sensi Amnesia was created using Jamaican Pearl, Afghani #1, and Hawaiian Indica. Effects from the female flowers often recreate the favourable effects of sativas, while the indica lineage breaks through, for a relaxing experience.

As an automatic strain, Sensi Amnesia was made for growers that needed a plant that was quick to finish the seed-to-harvest process. Indoors, this plant thrives. Outdoors, due to the automatic trait, Sensi Amnesia automatic can be grown in cooler climates and those that experience heavy rains later in the traditional growing season. Also, being a feminized plant, growers don’t need to worry about culling the males. Plant the seed, give it a little love, and soon enough, gardeners will have buds to harvest.

We have used many methods to germinate seeds in the past; paper towel, a cup of water, directly in the soil, and as we did on this grow, pre-moistened propagation cubes. Within a couple of days of placing our seeds in the jiffy cube, we saw our Sensi Amnesia emerging from the medium. These two days of waiting allowed us to prepare our room for the upcoming grow cycle.

The 1000w Green Power Phillips HPS lights were ideal for covering our growing area. Our HPS lamp/hood combination was fixed, 300 cm above the floor. This allowed our plants to grow upward to the light and kept the high-intensity light far away from the sensitive seedlings. Once the seeds had germinated and showed roots from the jiffy cubes, we moved them into 1-litre containers filled with BAC Lava mix soil.

The grow space was large enough that we used multiple fans to circulate the air within the cultivation area. We positioned numerous fans slightly above the canopy, and others were placed on the opposite side, underneath the canopy, to prevent pockets of stale, moist air. In addition, we used exhaust fans to remove and exchange the air. The air inside was extracted through a carbon filter, which can help remove pungent odours during flowering.

Environmental aspects such as temperature and humidity are essential to maintain within particular parameters during various stages of growth. Our environment tends to be more humid than dry, so we equipped ourselves with a dehumidifier instead of a humidifier. Our exhaust fan helps control temperature by extracting hot air and bringing in fresh air.

In the initial growth stages of our Sensi Amnesia Automatic, the humidity was kept at an elevated level of 65%. The light schedule in the garden was less relevant because of the automatic trait, but we programmed our timer for 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness each day. We kept this same light schedule for the duration of the grow diary.

The temperature of the grow room is an equally important factor to maintain. Often, there will be a fluctuation of both temperature and humidity when the lights go off. A prepared gardener will anticipate these changes and install the correct environmental controls to keep balance. Our grow room temperature with the lights on was held at 23 °C, and with the lights off, the temperature was maintained at 21 °C. These temperatures were consistent for the entire growing cycle.

The first week our Sensi Amnesia Automatic was above ground, we began with our IPM program. Treatments in the garden consisted of hanging sachets of Hypoaspis Miles around the base of the seedling. These beneficial predatory insects are helpful in the fight against fungus gnats and thrip pupae.

Another beneficial practice in the garden is turning the plants a quarter turn each day. This strengthens the main stem by causing the plant top to reposition itself closer to the light. Using the fans created a gentle breeze around our seedlings which will help strengthen cell walls within the stem and branches.

When it was time to place the jiffy cube into the 1-litre container, we gave the plant 100 ml of water directly around the cube. A diluted nutrient solution using Bio grow nutrients was added to the water. The combined EC of our solution was 1.3, and our water was pH balanced to 6.2.

In week two, our Sensi Amnesia Automatic quickly took off with vertical growth and to support stress-free growth; we transplanted it into a larger, 3-litre container. The volume of the water solution remained the same at 100 ml, and we continued to pour the solution directly on and around the base of the stem. As the roots matured, we increased the EC of our water solution to 1.5.

From the soil to the top leaf, our seedling measured 7 cm. Already she had two nodes, and the first set of five-fingered leaves were beginning to unfold. At the lowest node, we could see the side branches starting to develop.

The vertical height had doubled to 14 cm by week three. Although our cultivar has not had any pest issues, we proactively released two new types of beneficial insects into our garden. Amblyseius Cucumeris were released to reduce any thrip larvae that may exist undetected. Amblyseius Californicus was used to hunt and eat any two-spotted spider mites potentially lurking around.

Having the fan blow a gentle but steady breeze over the young seedling helped build strength in the main stalk, which supports all of the growth. Side branches from the second node had almost caught up to the main top. Our Sensi Amnesia Automatic had twice as many nodes as the week before, putting out five-fingered leaves at every node.

Watering amounts remained at 100 ml, but again the EC was increased to 1.6. The plant’s colour was consistent from the lower leaves to the top and was a lighter, neon green colour.

During week four, we transplanted our Sensi Amnesia Automatic into the final 5-litre container and began increasing the volume of the solution. We started the week at 150 ml and gradually increased the amount until we reached 500 ml by the week’s end. Our solution had an EC of 1.6 and a pH of 6.2.

It had been a few weeks since we released Hypoaspis Miles to combat any potential fungus gnat and thrip pupae. We opened another sachet and set that on the soil in the container. Internodal space on the plant had increased, allowing each side branch enough space to grow outward. The morphology of our Sensi Amnesia Automatic helped capture direct light without competition from branches immediately above it.

It had been approximately three weeks since our seeds sprouted, and this was the week when we detected the first signs of stigmas. This is an indicator that not only is this plant female, as predicted, but that this plant was beginning its flowering period.

Normally growers would need to change their photoperiod light schedule to trigger flowering. However, automatic seeds like these do not need the grower to do anything; they will begin flowering independently, and there is no need to change the light schedule in your garden.

OG Kush Feminized Grow Report (Indoor)

OG Kush Feminized will delight gardeners with its compact nature and XXL yields of top-shelf flowers. The origins of the meaning of “OG” may be a mystery, but growing this plant is easy and accessible to everyone, regardless of experience level. OG Kush offers an uplifting terpene profile and heavy indica effects to compliment the dense, green buds.

OG Kush Feminized (also available as autoflowering seeds) is a Californian classic that produces soothing and euphoric effects. Cherished for its distinct flavour profile and effects, OG Kush is thought to have a lineage consisting of Lemon Thai, Chemdawg, and Pakistani Kush. Not many people can agree on the meaning of the initials OG, but everyone can agree that OG Kush is a fun and easy plant to grow.

Our feminized version was created for gardeners who are limited on space, who need to stay under a certain plant limit, or simply for those who do not want to sex the plants at the start of flower.

We set up our equipment in our specialized growing room, which includes a 1000W Green Power Phillips HPS light and hood combination. For air movement, we used our ventilation system, and two smaller movable fans to move air through the canopy and around the grow space. For ventilation, we connected an inline fan to suck air from within the grow space and exhaust it into a carbon scrubber placed outside the grow area.

For our growing medium, we used BAC Lava Mix soil, which was fed with Bio Grow and Bio Bloom nutrients. Environmental conditions are important to control for optimal plant growth. We changed the humidity levels at different stages of the growth cycle; however, the temperatures were constant. During lights on, our grow area was kept at 23°C. The temperature dropped slightly when the lights went out, but it was maintained at 21°C.

Our OG Kush feminized seeds were placed into a damp paper towel and then set between two plates to maintain the moisture. Within 48 hours, the seeds opened, and the small, white tap roots began to poke out. We gently took our OG Kush seed and placed it approximately 4 mm under the soil surface with the tap root facing down.

Within a few days, our OG Kush was above the soil and reaching up towards the light. We used a 1-litre container, which assisted our OG Kush in quickly developing a healthy root system. Also, in the first week, we added the predatory insect Hypoaspis Miles to manage any fungus gnat or thrip pupae in our soil.

Our plant was placed in 18 hours of light, followed by 6 hours in darkness. During the early stages of life for our OG Kush, humidity levels were kept higher than growers typically would in flowering. We kept our humidity levels at 65% for the entire vegetative cycle.

In week two, our OG Kush Feminized more than doubled in height, and it was now setting its first true, five-fingered leaves. To support the growing root system, we transplanted it into a 3-litre container and continued to give the plant 100 ml of pure water at a pH of 6.2. When watering, we poured the water directly at the base of the stem, not all over the entire soil surface.

To help our plant grow strong, supportive stems and branches, we kept a light but steady breeze blowing through the canopy area. We also turned our OG Kush one-quarter of a turn each day. Because cannabis is phototropic, plants will lean towards the light source, and changing the position each day in these early stages helps build cell walls.

Week three was the first week we used Bio Grow nutrients to feed our plants. When combined with our water, the feeding solution was an EC of 1.6, and the pH was adjusted to 6.2. We were still watering 100 ml around the main stem, but our OG Kush Feminized was drinking more frequently than weeks prior.

To add defences against the potential of thrip larvae and two-spotted spider mites, we released more beneficial insects. Specifically, Amblyseius Cucumeris and Amblyseius Californicus, by hanging sachets on the lower branches of our OG Kush.

In week four, we noticed extreme vigor, with the plant doubling in height. It was time for us to move our OG Kush into its final 5-litre container size. Before doing that, we flushed the soil to remove any accumulation of salt residue from our fertilizers.

Flushing is an ideal practice to do every few weeks when feeding heavily. We used 500 ml of pure water, which held a pH of 6.2, and then poured it through the soil. After we did this, we waited a day, transplanted, and then watered with 250 ml feed solution as needed.
