Missing the Point for the Legalization of Cannabis – Legal vs. Legacy, Markets Battle for Control

When the Green Rush began about 10 years ago, those lawmakers who supported adult use legalization of cannabis thought the illegal trade world would disappear if consumers had access to legal product. Reality has set in, and the legacy market is thriving while the legal market strangled by regulations is barely surviving. The State of New York is the most prominent battleground state and their US Senator in Washington DC still is working hard to get reform done before the election in the fall. Meanwhile law enforcement is discovering and destroying illegal grows including 270 in the state of Maine alone.

The race to become the 25th legal state to purchase cannabis is heating up with Hawaii and Pennsylvania the front runners. If you always wanted to make a living just sitting around and testing and smoking weed, then there’s a job for you to apply for in Washington state. Wanda was the first African American woman to open a cannabis dispensary in Colorado. She is a former Navy LT, who then spent twenty-five years in politics, having served on President Obama’s National Finance Committee and as Jared Polis’ campaign Manager in 2008-2009. Seeing the racial disparities in cannabis convictions first hand moved her and her husband to get involved in efforts to legalize and decriminalize cannabis across America.
