Kratom was banned by the Drug Enforcement Administration in 2016, but the move was quickly overturned. There could be as many as 16 million regular kratom users in the US, according to medical research.

The American Kratom Association has called for additional research and believes that kratom’s safety and subsequent regulation should be determined through clinical trials.
