Magnitude vapes help the UFC’s Matt Frevola roll with the punches

SteamRolla dials it in with Magnitude’s London Pound Cake, White Widow, and new 4:1 CBN+THC.

Magnitude, one of the foremost vape brands in America, is once again reshaping the vape landscape, and this time, they aren’t alone. They’ve recently partnered with Matt “SteamRolla” Frevola, one of the most electrifying fighters in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Matt’s heavy hands make him a natural partner for an earth-shaking brand like Magnitude, and he claims their top-quality carts are instrumental in his training before a fight and his wind-down process after the fight is over. Not every vape cart could stand up to the rigorous demands of the SteamRolla’s lifestyle, but Magnitude vapes withstand that test. They’re more than ready to keep up with whatever Matt, or you, can throw at them.

We sat down with Matt to talk about fighting, his relationship with the cannabis community in his native Long Island, and how he uses the plant to keep him at peak performance. We also got Matt’s thoughts on some of his favorite Magnitude carts, including their London Pound Cake, White Widow, and 4:1 CBN+THC cartridge, and how each of these strains fill a vital niche for the SteamRolla.

“Mixed martial arts is about choice…about choosing the type of fighter you want to be”

Matt Frevola

Matt’s one of the most recognizable faces of the UFC, with seventeen pro matches under his belt, but it wasn’t always that way. Before his charming grin appeared in both the first season of Dana White’s Contender and the most recent UFC video game, Matt was a scrappy kid from Long Island with a passion for fighting, family, and Dragon Ball Z. This love of martial arts has taken him around the world, even doing intensive martial arts study in Thailand. Matt’s inherent drive to compete transformed him into the SteamRolla, a pistol-punching powerhouse that has dominated in the octagon for over a decade.

Matt has a more introspective side that may surprise some, given his ferocity in the ring. For Matt, fighting is about freedom and creativity as much as discipline and strength. They’re called martial arts for a reason, and just like any painter or dancer, Matt and many other professional fighters express themselves through their chosen medium. According to Matt, that freedom of expression is what drew him to mixed martial arts in general, and Muay Thai and Brazillian Jiu Jitsu specifically. “Mixed martial arts is about choice, it’s all different types of fighting at once and learning what’s best for you… it’s all about you choosing the type of fighter you want to be,” said Frevola.

This drive for freedom of expression makes Matt a perfect partner for Magnitude, a brand as concerned with choice as Matt is. Magnitude simply puts more power in the hands of the consumer than many of their peers—not only do they offer a wide variety of top-quality strains in tough-as-nails vape cartridges, but they’re also one of the only brands with an adjustable airflow that allows users to customize their hit. With Magnitude vapes, you get exactly the experience that you’re looking for, with robust terpene profiles, reliable hardware, and smooth draws. Take it from Matt: “Listen, you just gotta try it.”

Matt’s Picks

While Matt may be a lightweight fighter, he claims to be a heavyweight smoker with an iron set of lungs and an appreciation for the subtleties that set great products apart. He turns to cannabis to assist in his intensive physical training regimens, as well as to deal with the stress of performing at a high level. Matt is also a big proponent of recreational use of the plant and loves to indulge in a celebratory smoke after a big win.

Matt has been puffing on the cream of the Magnitude vape crop for the past few weeks, and The SteamRolla has picked out a few of his favorite knockout strains. However, these are just the tip of the Magnitude iceberg—they’ve got dozens of incredible strains, and there’s certainly one out there that perfectly matches your vibe.

Magnitude London Pound Cake

Magnitude’s London Pound Cake cartridge is a deliciously sweet indica-like strain that, like Matt, has a friendly demeanor but packs a powerful punch. It’s the descendent of an unknown, but certainly pretty potent indica and Sunset Sherbert, another famously couch-locking indica. That’s a lot of powerful indica genetics packed into one strain, and the Magnitude hardware takes this already heady strain into a whole new weight class. This strain gets its delicious vanilla flavor thanks to high amounts of the terpene myrcene, which Matt claims helps him feel  calm.

London Pound Cake is Matt’s go-to end-of-the-night strain, helping him unplug and unwind enough to get some sleep and wake up refreshed and clear-headed. “I take a big rip after a long day, and then it just gets me to sleep! Then I have a great sleep, and I wake up totally rested” said Frevola.

If you’re getting hungry for some dessert before bed, snag yourself some London Pound Cake tonight.

Magnitude White Widow

Matt also found himself particularly fond of Magnitude’s White Widow cartridge, and he’s certainly not alone in his appreciation of this icon. White Widow is easily one of the most famous strains in the world, a sativa-leaning hybrid that has built a reputation over the decades as a fantastic aid for creativity and socializing. Magnitude’s White Widow is one of the most convenient and flavorful ways to vape this strain. White Widow’s DNA comes from an unknown Brazilian landrace sativa and an equally obscure hard-hitting Indian indica, a mysterious parentage that just makes White Widow’s unique, woody, herbal aroma all the more distinctive.

While Matt doesn’t consume cannabis before a real bout in the octagon, he’s a big fan of sometimes cutting loose and breaking out the vape when he’s sparring in his gym. White Widow is Matt’s go-to strain when he wants to get in touch with his wild side. “I go for a low dose [of White Widow] and then I’m going for like, reverse Berimbolo or something else crazy!” said  Frevola. “And of course, it just makes it more fun.” If you’re looking for something to use when you’re exercising, creating, or socializing, then click the link below and dance with Magnitude’s White Widow.

Magnitude 4:1 CBN+THC

CBN is this year’s breakout cannabinoid, and Magnitude is one of the first outfits out there to offer a vape cartridge that combines CBN and THC into one unit, and Matt’s just one of the blend’s many fans. CBN (aka cannabinol) is a non-intoxicating novel cannabinoid related to, but distinct from, its more famous older sibling, CBD. CBN has started to make a name for itself on its own, but the party really gets going when you pair CBN with THC. This tendency of cannabinoids to work together to be more than the sum of their parts is called the “entourage effect,” and Magnitude is one of the only vape brands out there that is offering products that employ this CBN+THC combo to incredible effect.

For Matt, finding the time to relax and decompress can be a tall order, but he claims that Magnitude’s new CBN+THC carts help him deal with the pressure of life in the public eye. Keeping a sharp mind is as important to Matt’s fighting philosophy as maintaining a strong body, and he’s begun to include Magnitude’s CBN+THC cartridge as an essential element in his routine.  “I knew CBD, but I had never heard of CBN, but I’m loving it!” said Matt. Take it from Matt—CBN+THC is the real deal.

Matt’s three top strains are all certainly champions, and there are even more fantastic strains on Magnitude’s roster waiting for you to discover. Neither Matt nor Magnitude are the types to rest on their laurels, they’re constantly moving and innovating. Magnitude is available at Verilife stores and additional select retailers throughout the state. If you’re curious about Magnitude’s other offerings, or you want to keep up with all their latest updates, you can head to their website or follow them on Instagram or Twitter/X. You can also keep up with Matt on Instagram or Twitter/X and find out when he’ll be fighting next before anyone else.

Is CBN Right For You

Sitting at the crossroads of THC and CBD – CBD helps with sleep and pain. Could it be right for you?

Marijuana is been proven a benefit to the medical world and the American Medical Association, Health and Human Services, the American College of Physicians and the Food and Drug administration all support increasing it’s reach and for more research.  It has been shown to be particularly helpful with chronic pain, nausea, and sleep. The cannabis plant provide a variety of cannabinols, including CBD, marijuana and CBN. But the medical question is CBN right for you? It sits at the crossroads between CBD and THC can be useful with health issues.

Like CBD and THC, CBN is among the 100+ molecules in the cannabis plant. When THC is heated and exposed to CO2 (oxygen), it converts to CBN. The compound is said to have a mild psychoactive effect, slightly more so than CBD but much less than THC. Specifically, it is said to have a sedating effect on most users and to have promising sleep aid applications, similar to melatonin (among other potential uses).

The marketing of CBN as a dietary supplement may be viable, provided that no unapproved health claims are made and could be nationally legal as long as they have a THC concentration of 0.3% or less. Unlike CBN and like THC, CBN is legal in some states, but not federally. The FDA likes to point out that the 2018 Farm Bill explicitly preserved FDA’s authority to regulate products containing cannabis or cannabis-derived compounds under the Food Drug & Cosmetic Act (“FDCA”) and section 351 of the Public Health Service Act. But the marketing of CBN as a dietary supplement may be viable nonetheless, provided that no unapproved health claims are made.

Unlike CBD, CBN not been approved as a drug, and FDA itself has acknowledged “parts of the cannabis plant that do not contain THC or CBD might fall outside the scope of the [drug exclusion rule].” As with CBG, if CBN is approved as a drug at some point down the line, it also seems likely that the drug exclusion rule would not apply: this is because the rule contains an exception for substances marketed as foods or dietary supplements prior to any FDA clinical investigation. People are already marketing CBN products as foods and dietary supplements.

But the question is still, is CBN right for you? With regards to sleep, it is can be a bit stronger than CBD alone. While melatonin is a known as a good over the counter sleep aid, it doesn’t work for everyone.

A clinical study looked into sleep improvements from 15 mg of CBD with or without 15 mg of CBN compared with 5 mg of melatonin. In the study, all groups reported improved sleep quality, and there were no significant differences between products. Since this study didn’t look at CBN alone, it isn’t a direct comparison. But it seems to indicate that products containing an equal amount of CBD and CBN are similarly effective to melatonin for sleep. And adding a CBD/CBN product to melatonin didn’t provide any added benefit.

CBN use showed relief in muscle and joint pain conditions with inflammation. Limited studies show The study also noted that pain relief was better when CBD and CBN were used together.

So CBN can be helpful if you need a little extra in over the counter help.

Can Medical Marijuana Help During The Adderall Shortage

Published

on

By

Roughly 2.6% (139.8 million) of adults worldwide some form of ADHD.  With the Adderall shortage, what are the options?

In October 2022, the US Food and Drug Administration announced a shortage of Adderall.  The issue has has not be resolved and now, it seems, it is starting to have a larger effect on patients. South America (11.8%) has highest rate and Japan and Finland the lowest. American  about average (7%).  The average monthly prescription fill rate was 11% lower in the first half of 2023 than it was in the first half of 2022, and it did not show steady signs of improvement through the end of 2023.

More research needs to be done, but can medical marijuana help during the Adderall Shortage – or in general?  While scientists are still research cannabis and ADHD, there is some early data suggesting cannabis may be a helpful therapy.

RELATED: Science Says Medical Marijuana Improves Quality Of Life

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurological condition which makes it difficult to focus and can lead to impulsivity and hyperactivity. ADHD is the official medical diagnosis, whereas Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) is a now-outdated term that describes people with primarily inattentive symptoms.

While those diagnosed with ADHD may encounter trouble in school or work, most have gone on to lead successful lives. While there is no cure for ADHD, there are treatments that can help manage symptoms. Common treatments include medication, therapy, and lifestyle changes.

However, some people do not respond well to medication or cannot tolerate the side effects. As a result, many people turn to natural treatments like cannabis and CBD to treat their ADHD symptoms.  Any medical marijuana given to someone under 21 should be discussed with a health care professional as the research is still out and the brain is still developing.

It is worth noting there is some inconclusive evidence suggesting CBD might be used as an adjunctive treatment in schizophrenia, and a few isolated studies show CBD’s efficacy in social anxiety.

Two ways data based ways medical marijuana can help with symptoms of ADHD are sleep issues and reducing anxiety.  One of the most common reasons Americans use medical cannabis is to help with insomnia. Most people know what it is like trying to fall asleep when your mind is full of thoughts or concerns. Certain types of cannabis may help turn your busy brain into a blank board, allowing a solid night of sleep.

Another common medical reason is to manage anxiety and stress.  But certain strains of cannabis produce the same anxiety symptoms, so you have to be careful about the type of medical cannabis you choose. Stimulating cannabis strains can have a calming effect on people with ADHD symptoms. When consumed responsibly, Sativa cannabis may help calm social anxiety while allowing you to remain focused, alert, and conversational.

If you have been diagnosed with ADHD, have an open, fact based discussion with your health care profession about blending medical marijuana into your treatment.

CBD + CBN Sleep Gummies—Kush Queen

Published

92 points out of 100

Price: $25/a package of ten gummies

Founded by California budtender Olivia Alexander, the lauded CBD brand Kush Queen turns out some of the most impressive gummies in the market. Their Sleep Gummies each pack 15 milligrams of full-spectrum CBD and 15 milligrams of CBN, which consumers and business alike tout for its sedative properties, despite a dearth of scientific evidence

The gummies highlight the company’s strengths: Stellar taste and quick-acting, powerful effects. Available exclusively in Mixed Berry, the gummies boast a pleasant chewiness and subtle flavor light years removed from some of their gelatin-heavy and over-sugared competitors; that being said, the gummy left a mildly filmy and unsavory aftertaste on the tongue.

It kicks into action quickly, too: Twenty minutes or so after I ate one after dinner, it induced a warm and gentle buzz. Shortly after that, it had me out cold for a superb night of sleep.

Note: Since Kush Queen products contain less than 0.3% THC, you can legally buy them through Kush Queen’s website and have them shipped to your home.
