Marijuana: just some devil’s lettuce or more than that?

Marijuana has been illegal for decades now, and many still think that consuming marijuana is nothing less than tickling a dragon’s tail. On one side, some of the states have finally opened up to marijuana and made it legal, but on the other hand, critics are doing their best to keep it out of everyone’s sight.

Cannabis being illegal can be the reason why there is such a scarcity of research on the topic, but with the pace, we are going, we might be able to understand whether cannabis is evil or the bane of all evils.

Why is cannabis painted in a bad light?

The famous term “Devil’s lettuce” comes from the latter half of the 20th century. This name was given to marijuana by concerned parents, but nowadays it’s only used as a joke. This term is probably hailed due to the effects marijuana has on one’s brain, which have nothing to do with its medicinal reference.

Why is marijuana getting legalized after so many years?

After so many years of being illegal, marijuana finally has the chance to prove the world wrong. Due to marijuana being illegal, even scientists had a hard time researching this substance. But researchers all around the world now have the freedom to do studies and find the medicinal benefits of marijuana.

What are the benefits of marijuana?

According to the limited research we have, cannabinoids are shown to help with several issues, such as:

  • It can help reduce anxiety.
  • It has great anti-inflammatory properties, which help reduce inflammation.
  • It is a great analgesic.
  • Marijuana can help reduce the after-effects of chemotherapy, such as nausea and vomiting.
  • It helps relax the tight muscles caused by conditions like MS.
  • It has the potential to cure glaucoma, but we still need more research in that area.

Takeaway

With the speed at which scientists are discovering the benefits of marijuana, the day is not far from when it will be a cure for diseases that are incurable for now. But one thing is for sure: people will need cannabis with high potency to deal with their symptoms.

For now, the only legal way to get highly potent marijuana is via an Ohio Medical Marijuana Card. and to get an Ohio Medical Marijuana Card, you will need a medical prescription from your Ohio MMJ doctor, which you can get on various platforms, such as Ohio MMJ Card Doctor.

According to the U.S. National Survey on Drug Use and Health, in 2022, more people reported using cannabis daily or nearly daily than alcohol drinkers in previous years.
