Suzanne Bergeron has been installed as the new president and CEO of the Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC), the governmental marijuana retail monopoly in the Canadian province of Quebec.
Bergeron will become the SQDC’s first woman chief executive when she takes the reins Nov. 27.

She is an 18-year veteran of France-based international food service company Sodexo and also held roles as global talent director and president of Sodexo Canada.
“In her role as president and chief executive officer, Ms. Bergeron will guide all of the SQDC’s operations to ensure the company can carry out its mission of distributing cannabis with a focus on health protection in order to convert users to the legal market without encouraging cannabis use,” the provincial agency said in a statement.
Bergeron takes over from interim President and CEO Robert Dalcourt.
Dalcourt was appointed in June to replace outgoing SQDC
