Edibles are often considered a convenient, discreet, and effective way of accessing the therapeutic or intoxicating effects of cannabis, without exposure to the potential harms of smoking. For many cannabis users, edibles are fast becoming a favorite. In a recent survey, over half of cannabis users (52%) shared that gummies were their favorite way to consume cannabis.

Young women are consuming more pot than men for the first time in a historic shift in the $30 billion U.S. cannabis industry, prompting companies to revamp products and step up investments. Top cannabis retailers told Reuters they’ve started refocusing shelf space toward products that have proved popular with women, including edibles, tinctures, topicals, and beverages, in the hopes that any resulting rise in costs will pay off in the longer term.

California New Laws for 2025: Cannabis Cafes and Entertainment Zones

Senate Bill 969, authored by state Sen. Scott Weiner, will let local governments designate “entertainment zones,” where bars and restaurants can sell alcoholic beverages for people to drink on public streets and sidewalks. Some organizations, such as the California Alcohol Policy Alliance, oppose SB 969 because it could contribute to drunk driving accidents and increased alcohol mortality rates.

A series of new job listings are seeking experienced cannabis consumers in states across the U.S. to sample and review marijuana products. The gigs—with full-time, part-time and contract work available, the postings say—require good writing and photography skills. Toker’s Guide, which already offers an online directory of dispensaries in several jurisdictions, said in a series of geographic-based job posts on Indeed that it’s looking for “cannabis connoisseurs who think they have what it takes to join our ranks as a reviewer” of legal marijuana products.
