In the A Block or first section of Cannabis Coast to Coast News with Alaina Pinto, the lead story is from the Lone Star State of Texas where the house and senate have presented a bill to the Governor Greg Abbott that will ban THC infused hemp products throwing the industry into a panic. Kerry Hinkle from the Bayou City Hemp Company in Houston has reaction from the bizarre news conference with LT Governor Dan Patrick. Plus Amie Carter reports from the State House in Michigan with an update on a bill focusing on DUI and measuring drivers under the influence of cannabis even if they are using it for a plant medicine. Andrew Behringer has the story of the law suit that was suppose to challenge the constitutionality of prohibition but US Supreme Court won’t hear it, and another Federal Court shuts it down. Plus an introduction to Louis Joe in the District of Columbia, a licensed delivery owner who is in the trenches in our nation’s capital much to the annoyance of the Federal Government.

History was made in Washington DC when the DEA accepted the HHS recommendation to move cannabis to schedule 3 of the Controlled Substances Act. For the first time, a federal agency has enough evidence of the medicinal capabilities of the cannabis plant to get it away from Heroin and put it in the same schedule as anabolic steroids & Codeine Tylenol. Its not official until the White House Budget review and a public comment period. Industry reaction is mixed, consumer reaction is what took so long?

Success Center is a community-based organization that was founded 35 years ago by Superior Court Judges in San Francisco to provide education and employment opportunities to youth in juvenile detention facilities. The program has recently expanded to include Equity for Industry training and workshops for those interested in the cannabis industry. Liz Jackson-Simpson, CEO of Success Centers, and Angela White, Program Manager for Equity for Industry, talk with Montel about the program and the challenges minorities face when looking to enter the cannabis industry, and how their programs address those challenges.
