On Friday afternoon, The House of Representatives threw the hemp industry a curve. A last minute amendment to the 2024 Farm Bill got approved. If the bill does not change it could end the controversial Delta B and THC A market. Since the Farm Bill of 2018, these hemp derived intoxicants have established a billion dollar industry that is unregulated but widely distributed . This development crashed stock prices, and sent farmers and distributors, and probably a few smoke shop owners and convenience stores into a panic. The Associated Press and Tom Angell’s Marijuana Moment has broken the story that the DEA has rescheduled cannabis to schedule 3 of the CSA. THIS DOES NOT LEGALIZE THE PLANT OR DECIMINALIZE IT. It does rid the industry of the unjust 280E Tax code that didn’t allow the industry to write off business expenses that every other business.
