MUSKEGON, MI – A Muskegon man has been sent to federal prison for working with a mail carrier to import cocaine into West Michigan.

Srecko Darnell Walker, 35, of Muskegon, was sentenced Monday, April 14, to serve 32 years in prison for his role coordinating cocaine shipments from Texas to Michigan with a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Walker faced a 30-year prison sentence after he was found guilty by a federal jury in November 2024 of conspiracy to distribute and possess 5 kilograms or more of cocaine, as well as possession and distribution of cocaine.

The court added another two years to Walker’s sentence for violations committed on supervised release following a previous federal cocaine trafficking conviction, the attorney’s office said.

Walker “extensive criminal history” now includes a total of seven drug-related convictions, prosecutors said. Before pronouncing its sentence, the court told Walker: “You’ve spent most of your life lying. You’ve spent most of your life committing crimes . . . You have earned the sentence that you’re going to get.”

Evidence showed that in 2021 and 2022, Walker worked with Steven Rasic, a Muskegon-based U.S. Postal Service mail carrier, to import kilograms of cocaine into West Michigan. The cocaine came from a Texas-based supplier named Hugo Benavides, according to the attorney’s office.

In short:

Two men have been sentenced to three years’ jail with a non-parole period of 18 months for trying to import more than 100 kilograms of cocaine into South Australia.

The judge said the pair had followed the drugs from WA to SA on the instruction of their drug dealers in order to pay off drug debts they had accumulated.

The men’s sentences have been backdated to when they were first imprisoned last February and they will both be eligible for parole in August.

Two young Victorian men who were involved in the attempted importation of an “astronomical” amount of cocaine into South Australia have been labelled “muppets” and sentenced to three years’ imprisonment.

Rayn Sadik, 20, and Yousif Al-Asadi, 23, were sentenced in South Australia’s District Court on Wednesday after they each entered a guilty plea to one count of attempting to possess a commercial quantity of an unlawfully imported border controlled drug last year.

The maximum penalty for that offence is life imprisonment or a fine of $2,347,500.
