One of the objects is rented, the other is owned

Cannabist Co. Holdings Inc. announced this month that it will close two cannabis cultivation and manufacturing plants in South Jersey, eliminating 86 jobs in the sector on October 11. The closings came after the company won Chapter 15 bankruptcy recognition in the US earlier this year.

Company filed A Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice (WARN) to the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development on July 14, announcing the closure of businesses in Vineland: at 51 West Park Ave. and at 1560 N. West Blvd.

One of the New Jersey grow and production facilities is leased, while Cannabist Co.’s non-cannabis subsidiary, Columbia Care NJ Realty LLC, owns another facility, with about $16 million still due on a mortgage loan agreement as of March 2026, according to court filings.

Some of the injured workers may receive special legal protection: Cannabist Co. is a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 152 collective bargaining agreement covering full-time and part-time cultivation technicians employed in Vineland.
