Zen Leaf Dispensaries Mark 10-Year Las Vegas Anniversary with “All-in-at-10” Celebrations
The intention is to “review progress made and discuss remaining barriers”
California’s state treasurer has announced that she is convening a hearing next week to highlight the “problems” of access to banking services in the marijuana industry and the impact it is having on businesses, workers and communities.
The hearing, led by Treasurer Fiona Ma (D), comes a decade after her predecessor in the post created a cannabis banking task force to study the issue.
The hearing, titled “Continuing the Conversation: Advancing Safe and Legal Banking Services for California’s Cannabis Industry,” will feature state and local officials, financial institutions and representatives of the marijuana business. The intent is to “review progress made, discuss remaining barriers, and consider practical steps California can take to support a safe, transparent and well-regulated legal cannabis market,” according to a press release from Ma’s office.

Solvent-free hash is widely considered the crème de la crème of cannabis products
it’s soooooo smooth.
That’s what I thought the first and only time I came across Type II Concentrate.
Living in an RV means stumbling through the most random small towns, and when I set out to visit every legal market in the Northeast, there wasn’t a single dispensary to visit. It was a gram of live rosin from a shop in a small town in coastal Maine. In 2023, many of these towns still only had medical dispensaries, so I took every opportunity to stock up. When I saw this little jar, I knew I needed it. It cost me about $40 if I remember correctly.
I was excited to light it. Smoking through the open van door with the insect screen down in the Maine summer, I knew I had stumbled upon something special in this living rosin. I’m a die-hard blowtorch hater, so the concentrates are packed tightly in my bubbler bowl. I love how they add flavor and length to the water pipe.
The effectiveness is often overwhelming for me, so concentrates are an indulgence for special occasions. But I smoked that type II live rosin every day until it was gone.
This is my plea to the cannabis industry: give me Type II concentrates.

“Oil Day”, or 7/10, has failed as a sales holiday this year

- Cannabis concentrates remain a small part of retail sales, but are highly valued by buyers.
- Price compression has expanded the customer base. Live resin, which once sold for $40 per gram, is now only $10 before tax.
Once a niche product, cannabis concentrates have become one of the most reliable drivers of retail growth.
Extracts are the basis of vapes, edibles, infused pre-rolls and premium hash sales year-round, even if 7/10 is the industry rest of the concentrate is assigned and dabber’s response on 4/20 – doesn’t move the needle.
“These extracts feed the entire food industry — they come from hash,” said David Downs, organizer of Hash Week, a week-long celebration in California beginning on 7/10, sometimes called “Oil Day.”
“We’re talking about concentrates – edibles, vapes and the hash market in bulk grams. They’re all extracts.”
As cannabis oil becomes a year-round growth engine, consumers are no longer waiting for the 7/10 holiday to purchase it.
Still in 2022 concentrate sales jumped 67.4% on 7/10according to Headset, rosin sales were up 213% over the previous four Saturdays—a veritable holiday surge by any standards.
