“DEA registration marks a historic step forward for our medical business”

TALLAHASSEE, FL, April 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Trulieve Cannabis Corp. (CSE: TRUL) (OTCQX: TCNNF) (“Trulieve” or the “Company”), the leading and most effective cannabis company in the United States, today announced that it has filed applications with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to register certain state-licensed medical marijuana operations under the expedited registration pathway established by the recent transfer of medical marijuana to Schedule III under the Controlled Substances Act.

“Dea registration for our healthcare business marks a historic step forward for Trulieve and the patients we serve,” said Trulieve Chief Executive Officer Kim Rivers. “With more than 200 medical-only dispensaries, Trulieve is uniquely positioned to set the bar for a responsible operator in the US.”

Following the reclassification of medical marijuana to Schedule III, the DEA established an expedited registration process for eligible state-licensed medical marijuana operators. For operators who have applied within 60 days, a license to manufacture, distribute and dispense Schedule III marijuana medical products is deemed approved unless otherwise noted.

Derek S. Julius will be the DEA’s chief administrative law judge

Those who thought the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) composed the deck of cannabis passage favoring prohibitionists under the Joe Biden administration may be in for more disappointment.

Under a new hearing process set to begin June 29 before an administrative law judge — for the DEA to determine the merits of a proposed rule reclassifying cannabis as a Schedule III drug under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) — President Donald Trump’s administration will only accept testimony from those who oppose the proposed rule.

On June 18, the DEA announced seven “interested persons” who were “affected or affected” by the proposed rule, all of whom oppose loosening federal restrictions on cannabis. Among the seven appointed participants are:

  1. National Drug and Alcohol Screening Association (NDASA)
  2. Tennessee Bureau of Investigation
  3. Smart Approaches to Marijuana (SAM)
  4. The states of Nebraska, Idaho, Indiana and Louisiana
  5. Two voices of the victim
  6. Kenneth Finn, MD
  7. Philip A. Drum, Pharm.D.

Is Connecticut In A Cannabis ‘Arms Race’ With Massachusetts?

Governor Ned Lamont and leaders of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe sign Connecticut’s first tribal state cannabis contract Thursday, giving the tribe legal authority to grow hemp on its lands.

The agreement allows the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe to participate in Connecticut’s cannabis market while respecting tribal sovereignty and state health standards, the governor’s office said.

TheAct on Responsible and Fair Regulation of Adult Use of Cannabiscoordinates state and tribal regulations for the storage, production, delivery, processing and use of cannabis. It was held in June 2021.

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribe has yet to authorize any adult cannabis businesses, but a contract signed Thursday will allow future tribally licensed operations.
