A Missouri circuit judge dismissed a court action by a marijuana extraction company seeking to halt a state recall on thousands of products containing its THC concentrate.

Delta Extraction filed a motion Aug. 17 asking for a temporary restraining order against a recall of its products issued by the state Department Health and Senior Service as well as the Division for Cannabis Regulation, according to Columbia TV station KMIZ.

The judge ruled Wednesday that Robertson-based Delta Extraction failed to exhaust all administrative options and the court lacked the jurisdiction to hear the complaint, KMIZ reported.

The situation began Aug. 2, when regulators suspended Delta Extraction’s business license, alleging the company sourced untested “marijuana or converted hemp from outside of a Missouri licensed cultivation facility,” according to the Missouri Independent.

Then, on Aug. 14, the Division for Cannabis Regulation (DCR) recalled roughly 62,000 infused cannabis products manufactured

The number of active U.S. cannabis business licenses continued to shrink in early 2024, according to CRB Monitor, a marijuana intelligence firm that tracks and monitors licenses in the regulated industry.

Creditors of cannabis operator MedMen Enterprises will meet in a few weeks as investors seek repayment for hundreds of millions of dollars in outstanding debt.

The cash-strapped company entered bankruptcy proceedings in Canada on Friday and placed its California retail assets in receivership, the first steps to unwind the business and sell off assets in liquidation.

The developments usher in the end of the company’s days as a marijuana multistate operator and cement perhaps the most precipitous downfall in the marijuana industry to date.

With creditors reporting more than 560 million Canadian dollars ($410 million) in claims, MedMen likely represents the largest failure in U.S. and Canadian marijuana retail history.

At one point, the company operated more than 20 stores nationwide, including about
