One dose of CBD can reduce stress in dogs during separation and car travel: Study

A new study has found that a single dose of hemp-derived cannabidiol (CBD) can reduce stress and promote relaxed behaviour in dogs during separation and car travel. 

Published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science, the study involved 40 healthy dogs, a mix that included 17 Labrador retrievers, 8 Beagles, and 15 Norfolk Terriers, all housed at the Waltham Petcare Science Institute in the U.K. Half of the dogs received a single dose of CBD at 4mg/kg, while the remaining half were given a placebo.

The dogs were split into two groups with 21 experiencing a separation event and 19 travelling in a car for 10 minutes, two hours after the dose. To ensure the dogs’ well-being, they were closely monitored for signs of distress or harm according to predefined removal criteria.

5 suspects arrested in California desert killings in dispute over marijuana, sheriff’s officials say

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — Five people have been arrested in the investigation surrounding six bodies found last week at a remote dirt crossroads in the Southern California desert in a dispute over marijuana, sheriff’s officials said Monday.

Authorities discovered the bodies in the Mojave Desert outside El Mirage after someone called 911 and said he had been shot, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Warrick said. Five bodies were found late Tuesday and a sixth the following morning.

Five suspects were arrested after deputies served search warrants Sunday in the Adelanto and Apple Valley areas of San Bernardino County and the Pinyon Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles County, Warrick said at a news conference.

“We are confident that this appears to be a dispute over marijuana,” he said.

Warrick said all the suspects in the case had been arrested. The five men, ranging in age from 24 to 34, were held
